The timing situation was such a mess... My finish time was wrong, and then the results page just kept changing?? I emailed about it hoping someone could actually fix it, but I never really got a real solution. Super frustrating after training for months and just wanting an accurate race result!!!

I tried signing up for the Chicago Half Marathon, the registration process was frustrating. The site kept freezing when I got to payment, and I ended up having to enter all my information twice. Then I was charged but didn’t get a clear confirmation email for a few hours, which was stressful because I wasn’t sure if I was actually registered or not. To be fair, it could’ve just been a busy time or a system issue, but support only sent a generic response and didn’t really help clear things up. Not the best first impression for something that should’ve been straightforward

I knew going in that it was a half marathon so I wasn’t expecting it to be easy, but this course felt way harder than I was ready for, there were stretches that seemed to go on forever and the hills really threw off my pace and made it hard to settle into any kind of rhythm. It just wasn’t a fun run for me, and if you’re not prepared for a more challenging course, I’d probably skip this one.

The medal was underwhelming and the shirt felt even cheaper. For the price, I expected a little better, and it kind of made me wonder where all the extra fees were actually going.

I went in expecting the volunteers to be able to help, but it was frustrating. I think this was around late May, or maybe early June, I can’t remember the exact date, but the support felt really disorganized. Whenever I asked for help, no one seemed to know what was going on or who I should talk to. It just made the whole experience more stressful than it needed to be.

I went into this race hoping for at least some solid crowd support, but most of the course felt really quiet and kind of empty. There were a few nice people cheering in spots, which I appreciated, but overall the vibe was flat. It made the miles drag way more than they should have. And maybe I’m just tired of everything being so automated these days, but the whole experience felt a little impersonal too, like there wasn’t much real human energy behind it

I ran the Chicago Half and, snap judgment, I’d say it was a solid race with some noticeable rough edges. Packet pickup was easy enough, and the volunteers were genuinely friendly, which made the whole thing feel a lot better right away.
That said, the start area had me confused almost immediately, and the corrals and bag check lines felt like they needed way more direction. Water stops were fine but crowded. I still had a good time, but for the price, I expected the organization to be a little tighter.

I felt stressed out before the race because there weren’t any clear emails explaining what was going on. I kept having to guess where to be, what time things were happening, and what I needed to do. It added a bunch of unnecessary stress to something that should’ve been exciting.

The parking situation was a mess. The info they gave was confusing, and the transit options weren’t explained very well either. It was just REALLY frustrating to deal with right before race day

The aid stations were a mess. There were no cups, the water was warm, and everything moved so slowly. It kind of felt like nobody was really paying attention to what runners needed out there.

To be fair, there were definitely some parts of the course, especially when we were running near the lake. That was really nice and gave the race a good Chicago feel. But overall, a lot of the route felt kind of plain to me, with some longer stretches where there just wasn’t much to look at. It wasn’t a bad course by any means, just not as scenic or exciting as I’d expected. I’d probably give the course scenery about 3 stars.

I went to packet pickup on Friday, or maybe it was Thursday evening, I can’t remember exactly, but it was way more frustrating than I expected. The line barely moved, and it seemed like no one really knew where people were supposed to go. I asked a couple volunteers and got different answers, then ended up waiting all over again because there was an issue with my bib. For a race this big, it felt disorganized. Definitely not the best first impression.
